Ranchland Trust of Kansas (RTK) hosted the second annual 5K Run for the Brand during Flint Hills Beef Fest. This unique race, held at The Orchard north of Emporia, featured ranch-themed obstacles provided by GoBob Pipe and Steel, including bale feeders, feed bunks, cattle chutes and a trailer. RTK board member and past KLA President, Mike Collinge, rode a horse to lead the race.

Scott Maley of Emporia was the race winner from a field of 110 runners with a time of 17 minutes, 54 seconds. Other top finishers in their age group included Hannah Gloss, Overbrook; Michelle Corpening, Olpe; Amy Potter, Maple City; Sarah Malcolm, Emporia; Tanja Harrison, Lawrence; Brandon Schrader, Emporia; August Stueve, Olpe; Arturo Leal, Emporia; and Dan Robertson, Lebo. Also congratulations to Todd Hlasney, Shawnee Mission, and Brandi Frobose, Manhattan, for placing in the top three in their age group and representing Team Beef and the Beef Endurance Team.
